'Svetlitsa' introduces visitors to the interior decoration of a Russian izba (peasant house), which was the subject of broad and rich folk creativity — woodcarving, painting, embroidery and other crafts of the Russian people's cultural traditions. The exhibition displays household items, clothing, furniture and tools — everything that surrounded the peasant in everyday life. Part of the izba is the stove corner, separated by a curtain; there are rest areas for men and women and the red corner (icon corner), where icons and embroidered rushniki (towels) hung. During the visit, anyone may hold a rubel (a wooden tool used to smooth laundry), remove a chugunok (cast-iron pot) from the oven with an ukhvat (metal pot lifter), grind rye grains into flour and take a photo by the Russian stove.
