Interactive exhibition of the Archaeology Museum
About exhibition
The exhibition is a system of themed interior complexes that introduce the visitor not only to the earliest history of the Amur region, the everyday life and culture of its inhabitants, but also to the specifics of an archaeologist's work. Each hall immerses the visitor in the world of ancient people, emphasizing key aspects of the prehistoric environment: life in the open air; cave dwelling; the atmosphere of an ancient dwelling. The displays include elements of the heritage of world culture (prehistoric cave wall paintings) as well as Far Eastern motifs. The "Archaeological Excavation" and "Stratigraphic Section" areas explain the features of Far Eastern archaeology, the specifics of soils, and the conditions of fieldwork during expeditions. One of the walls is adorned with the sculpture "Amur Nefertiti," or the "Kondon Venus" — an enlarged copy of the legendary Neolithic female figurine. It greets all visitors. Bas-reliefs with the famous Amur petroglyphs can also be seen on the walls.
