The photo exhibition at the V. P. Savinykh Children's Space Center is dedicated to the birthday of the great Russian scientist and founder of astronautics K. E. Tsiolkovsky, and is the result of the traditional annual photo contest held in the summer. In 2025 participants could apply in four categories: 'Space on Earth', 'Along the Milky Way', 'Citizen of the Universe' and 'The Photographer's Cosmic View' (special category). The contest gathered over 360 original works and more than 60 participants from 23 regions of the Russian Federation and 6 countries. The geography of participants is striking: Belarus, China, Turkey, Montenegro and the United Kingdom. Russian regions represented include Moscow, Vladimir Oblast, Voronezh Oblast, Kemerovo Oblast, Kirov Oblast, Moscow Oblast, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Novgorod Oblast, Rostov Oblast, Ryazan Oblast, Samara Oblast, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Tver Oblast, Tula Oblast, Chelyabinsk Oblast and Yaroslavl Oblast, as well as Altai Krai, Primorsky Krai and Stavropol Krai, the Republic of Adygea, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Donetsk People's Republic and the Udmurt Republic. Space is closer than it seems! This can be witnessed again and again: this year Kirov resident and good friend of the museum Oleg Vladimirovich Blinov — a test cosmonaut, head of the division for creating integrated simulators of advanced transport spacecraft at the Cosmonaut Training Center, commander of the SIRIUS-21 crew, and a lecturer of the Znanie society — submitted his photographic works to the contest. The chairman of the competition's expert commission is Roscosmos state corporation photographer Ivan Aleksandrovich Timoshenko. On September 21, on the eve of the founding day of the city of Kirov, the winners of the contest will be announced and the opening of the exhibition 'Earth — the Cradle of Humanity' will take place at the V. P. Savinykh Space Center.
