Ethnographic exhibition «Ni. The Belt of Life»
About exhibition
The multimedia exhibition is dedicated to the distinctive culture of the indigenous peoples of the North and is notable for its contemporary approach, using not only items from the museum's collections but also interactive digital technologies. The central exhibit that embodies the whole concept of the exhibition is the men's belt — «Ni». It is not merely an article of clothing but a symbol of a man's strength and status. The closed-loop belt, like the nomads' life path, symbolizes eternal movement, the connection between generations, and the transmission of wisdom and experience from ancestors to descendants. The exhibition offers an excellent opportunity to learn about nomadic culture and to understand their traditions and way of life in constant motion. Of particular value are the collection items: household objects, clothing, jewelry, and tools of the indigenous peoples of the North. But the real highlight is the interactive digital panels. They present unique footage from expeditions to the Polar Urals, immersing visitors in the stark beauty of the Yamal expanses. Thanks to the multimedia elements, the exhibition comes alive, turning the tour into an interactive journey into the heart of northern culture.
