Exhibitions of the Tver Art Gallery

About exhibition

Tver Imperial Palace is an outstanding monument of Russian architecture, built for Empress Catherine II in 1763–1778 to a design by the great Russian urban planner P. R. Nikitin. Over its more than two-century history the Palace has repeatedly changed its appearance, reflecting the styles and tastes of successive eras. Built as a place of repose, it has for more than 250 years warmly extended its wing-like 'arms' toward the people of Tver and the many visitors to the city. Visitors to the Palace can see not only the magnificent interiors of the ceremonial halls that received imperial guests, but also become acquainted with the unique collection of the Tver Art Gallery. They can view icons from the 14th–19th centuries, a collection of Western European and Russian paintings, works on paper (graphic art), sculpture, and decorative and applied arts.
