Exhibitions of the Museum of Foreign Art
About exhibition
The Museum of Foreign Art occupies a separate building — a two-story mansion dating from the first third of the 19th century. Here the Yaroslavl Art Museum presents its collection of Western European and Eastern art — paintings, prints and drawings, sculpture, furniture, and decorative and applied arts from the 16th to the early 20th century from the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Japan and China. The exhibition "Flacon" features perfume bottles from the museum's collection. The exhibition "100 Parrots" displays objects depicting parrots from the Yaroslavl Art Museum's holdings. Most of the exhibits are porcelain and faience figures. The museum has assembled an extensive collection of exotic birds produced by renowned factories in England, Denmark, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. The parrot figure was chosen deliberately: because of its complex form and varied decoration, the parrot exemplifies the highest level of craftsmanship and serves as a showcase of a factory's technical capabilities.
