On the grounds of the museum-reserve you can see the remains of fortress structures built more than 200 years ago and restored early 19th-century military fortifications, and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city with views of historic sites and buildings. In the Soldiers' Barracks you can visit the exhibition 'Ancient History of the Region' and see items from the archaeological collection reflecting the development of human society during the Paleolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, and the Middle Ages. The Ober-Officer's House features an exhibition dedicated to the history of the county town of Kuznetsk, the region's military history, the fortress and the prison-castle. Visitors will learn about the daily life and culture of the indigenous population (the Kuznetsk Tatars), the lives, crafts and trades of the city's first inhabitants, and see artifacts discovered during excavations at the sites of the Kuznetsk ostrog, the old town center and the fortress grounds.
