Exhibitions of the Kostroma Nobility Museum
About exhibition
A combined ticket to the Kostroma Nobility Museum includes admission to the exhibitions "And He Has Rus in His Roots..." and "Provincial Stories. Noble Elections". The exhibition "And He Has Rus in His Roots..." features the finest paintings by Yefim Chestnyakov, watercolor drawings, clay figurines (miniature clay sculptures), as well as documents and personal belongings of the Shablov master. Yefim Vasilievich Chestnyakov was an original Russian artist, sculptor, thinker and storyteller. Born in the Kostroma hinterland, he devoted considerable attention in his work to the theme of village life. His works—whether oil canvas, watercolor or clay miniature—literally breathe the artist's love for his native land and for the people who lived nearby. The beautiful ceremonial halls, the ornate cast-iron staircase and many interesting details and household items of the exhibition "Provincial Stories. Noble Elections" will immerse you in the life of a 19th-century provincial town. Special emphasis is placed on the nobility: the elections of provincial leaders, balls, pastimes and fateful passions.
