The museum introduces the names of locals who brought renown to their homeland, among them the well-known scholar Professor G.Kh. Kamay, a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, People's Artist M.V. Kupriyanov (one of the Kukryniksy), the famous athletes — Olympic champions A.N. Vorobyov and S.A. Demina, honored doctors of the TASSR and RSFSR: Doctor of Medical Sciences A.M. Bogolyubov, N.Ya. Sokolov. The museum exhibitions tell about people who left a significant mark on the history of the town: the founder of Chuvash poetry Mikhail Kuzmin‑Sespel; the outstanding educator and enlightener of the Chuvash people, creator of the Chuvash alphabet I.Ya. Yakovlev; the writer T. Petterka; the revolutionary Vera Figner; the opera singer N.N. Figner; the poetess M. Muzafarii; the idyllic poet V.I. Panaev; the artists V.M. Zavertkin, I.V. Gugorov, I.S. Kuznetsov and many other well‑known figures. The museum reveals pages of the past of a small ancient town that is part of the Union of Historical Towns and Regions of Russia. The main basis for the museum's scientific and research work is the historical heritage kept in the museum — its collections and holdings. Today the museum is housed in a building that is an architectural monument — the house of a merchant of the 1st guild, Hereditary Honorary Citizen of the town of Tetyushi, Petr Vasilievich Serebryakov, at 25 Lenin Street.
