Exhibitions of the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg
About exhibition
The museum has a permanent exhibition devoted to the founding of Yekaterinburg in 1723 and its history in the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition portrays the city as the commercial and industrial center it became in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors learn about the history of Ural gold and the Yekaterinburg Mint, which struck 80% of the copper coins in the Russian Empire. “History in 3D” is a three-part stereoscopic film that vividly and excitingly highlights events from the city's past. The first episode tells of the early decades of Yekaterinburg’s life and its development from a fortress-plant into a county (uyezd) town. The second and third episodes are devoted to the 19th century and include stories about the gem-cutting factory, the arms industry, architectural gems, and the gold rush.
