Exhibitions of the Museum of Architecture and Design. The Museum of Architecture and Design is located in a special place — the historic center of Yekaterinburg. A factory that gave birth to the city was founded here. The museum buildings still preserve the memory of the Urals' proud industrial past. The exhibition Architecture of the Stone Belt, presented in paper models and infographics, is based on the results of a program studying the region's architectural monuments. The exhibition dedicated to the Ural school of design is arranged in three sections: Technical Aesthetics of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics; From Applied Arts to Design; and Design Strategies for the Future. The collection of large-scale machinery from Ural factories is displayed outdoors in front of the museum in the Historical Square. A monument to Emperor Peter I, the founder of the mining-and-factory industry in the Urals, is also located here. Temporary exhibitions in the small hall and the museum library showcase regional architecture, the artistic culture of the Urals, and present projects by faculty and students of the Ural State University of Architecture and Arts.
