Exhibitions of the Literary and Musical Museum "Shalyapin's Dacha"
About exhibition
In Kislovodsk, not far from the railway station and set among majestic conifer trees, you can see an extraordinary mansion built in the Art Nouveau style in 1903. The house is known throughout the spa town as Shalyapin's Dacha. Visitors can walk through the museum's halls and view exhibits relating both to Shalyapin himself and to the everyday life of a townsman of that era. On display are photographs of the artist in life and in roles, stage costumes, images of old Kislovodsk and its surroundings, antique tableware and household items, furniture from the late 19th–early 20th century, and religious artifacts. You have the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of the first third of the 20th century and imagine how the world‑famous artist of that time lived in a small provincial town. For convenience there is an information kiosk with brief descriptions of the most interesting exhibits. And of course, in addition to its permanent displays, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions devoted to various subjects and events.
