About exhibition

The ticket price includes admission to the exhibition and two displays. The exhibition "Sergiev Posad in the 20th Century" provides an insight into everyday life in the town of Sergiev Posad in the first half of the 20th century: its measured pace at the beginning of the century, the post-revolutionary changes that turned the town into an industrial center, the contribution of its residents to the Great Victory, and changes in culture and everyday life in the 1950s. The exhibition "Art. War. Militia"—presented for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory—features front-line dolls by various craftsmen. The hall's honored central place is occupied by the public favorite, Petrushka. This puppet became the most popular character in wartime performances. The exhibition reveals the fates of puppet artists, painters, and masters of applied arts who fought near Vyazma in the autumn of 1941 as part of the Moscow Militia. The exhibition "Archaeology of the Sergiev Posad Land" presents more than 500 exhibits—rare monuments from the Stone Age to the early Middle Ages—from the excavations of the museum's archaeological expeditions over the years from the territories of Sergiev Posad and neighboring regions.
