Royal Gate Exhibitions
About exhibition
In the halls of this cultural heritage site there is an exhibition on the history of the city pharmacy across different periods: a knight-era storeroom, the duchy’s alchemical laboratory, and the scientific study of the royal era. Visitors can view a collection of local medicinal herbs, a selection of “healing” stones, incense, items related to the local mineral waters, antique scales and other pharmacy instruments. The exhibition also describes the territory’s diplomatic ties with Western and Eastern countries, visits to the city by notable figures, the history of Peter I’s Grand Embassy, the Seven Years’ War, and the period when the city was under the Russian crown. Materials about the embassies and consulates of Königsberg and Kaliningrad are presented. A separate section is devoted to Andrey Bolotov — a Russian educator and encyclopedist who served in the city during the Seven Years’ War. With a ticket to the Royal Gate you can also visit the “Poterna” exhibition hall, which presents an exhibition on the history of the Napoleonic Wars.
