About exhibition
A combined ticket allows visitors to see the exhibitions and displays of the State Museum of Political History of Russia and its branch — "Gorokhovaya, 2. The History of the Political Police and State Security Organs of Russia. 19th–20th centuries." The main building of the Museum of Political History of Russia is located in two mansions — architectural monuments of the Art Nouveau era. The museum's permanent exhibitions tell of the key events in the country's socio-political life over the last two centuries, the history of the 1917 revolution, and also of M. Kshesinskaya, the famous ballerina. The "Gorokhovaya, 2. The History of the Political Police and State Security Organs. 19th–20th centuries." branch is housed in a mansion built at the end of the 18th century to a design by the architect Giacomo Quarenghi (entrance from Admiralteysky Prospect). The branch's permanent exhibition is devoted to the history of domestic security services from the beginning of the 19th century to the mid-20th century. Of particular note in the exhibition is the first working office of the chairman of the VChK-OGPU, F. Dzerzhinsky.
