Exhibitions «Ethnic Panorama of Siberia» and «As Nature Intended»
About exhibition
The exhibition «Ethnic Panorama of Siberia» is a collection of unique cultural and everyday items of the peoples of Siberia. Two exhibition halls introduce visitors to the features of housing, traditional economy, national costume, spiritual culture, household life, ritual practices, religious beliefs, traditional child-rearing practices, and examples of artistic creativity of the region's largest peoples (Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Germans) as well as smaller ethnographic groups (Armenians, Moldovans, Roma, Jews). In the «As Nature Intended» hall the region's natural diversity is presented: a paleontological collection and a mammoth skeleton, the flora and fauna of the Omsk Irtysh area, the planet's geological structure and the mineral resources of Omsk Oblast, and information about unique natural sites and specially protected territories. Visitors will learn about aquatic and semi-aquatic birds and animals that inhabit rivers, freshwater and salt lakes, and bogs and their surroundings. The displays also include a small number of reptiles and amphibians that are rare in conservation status.
