Exhibitions of the Postnikov Courtyard and the Varlaamov Corner
About exhibition
Visitors can see two museum sites at once. The restored halls of the sumptuous merchant chambers of the Postnikov house are remarkable for their ability to harmoniously accommodate exhibitions on any subject. The reconstructed Varlaamov Corner is part of the fortifications of the Okolny (Outer) Town of Pskov — a complex of 16th-century Pskov fortress defenses that includes remnants of earlier fortifications. The complex consists of the Vysokaya and Varlaam towers, connected by a battlemented gallery. The exhibition space of the Varlaamov Corner is occupied by the exhibition "The Lion Against the Eagle", which is devoted to one of the most important events in Pskov's military history — the siege of the city by the army of Swedish king Gustav II Adolf during the Time of Troubles. The exhibition presents a full-scale depiction of the siege of Pskov in figures and costumes, revealing its heroic and tragic moments.
