The House-Museum "First House of Norilsk" is a monument of regional historical significance, honoring the brave, resilient people who courageously faced every hardship to prove that Norilsk should exist. The First House of Norilsk was built by N. N. Urvantsev’s geological exploration expedition in the summer of 1921. In this house the scientist and geologist, discoverer of the Norilsk deposits and one of the city’s founders, Nikolai Nikolaevich Urvantsev, together with colleagues and like-minded people, spent the first winter. Today the museum presents exhibitions that tell about the daily life of the 1923–1924 geological expedition and about the “travels” of the house itself. The First House of Norilsk is located next to the main building of the Norilsk Museum. In 2017 a monument to N. N. Urvantsev was unveiled there in the museum square. More on the museum's website.
