Exhibits of the M. A. Sholokhov House-Museum

The House of M. A. Sholokhov consists of three halls containing photographs, books, documents, paintings, and household items. They tell about the writer's time on the Volga. The showcases display works by M. A. Sholokhov, and there is a unique library of Russian and foreign authors about his life and work. The opening of the M. A. Sholokhov House-Museum took place on July 22, 2004, and on May 24, 2005, on the 100th anniversary of the great Russian Soviet writer, a bronze sculptural composition and a commemorative plaque on the facade of the house by Moscow sculptor and Union of Artists of Russia member A. A. Lunin were unveiled on the museum grounds. The literary department exhibits collections of museum items associated with people representing the district's literary life. As of December 31, 1917, the department housed 790 museum items, of which 295 belong to the main collection.
