Exhibitions of the Children's Museum Center 'Moshchevitin's Dacha'

About exhibition

In the museum center a chamber has been set up dedicated to a fairy-mythological character — the magical mistress of the town on the Kama River, the Golden Sarapul — where visitors are shown furniture and decorative and applied art pieces from the late 19th to early 20th centuries: wood carving, bobbin lace, embroidery, weaving, beadwork and more. In the museum's creative workshops, under the guidance of masters, children and adults can acquire skills in a variety of artistic techniques: traditional rag-doll making, painting Christmas tree ornaments year-round for notable events and dates, and painting souvenirs inspired by folk crafts. Here guests also learn about the life and activities of the famous merchant family Moshchevitin. Special attention is drawn to the life of Dmitry Pavlovich Moshchevitin, a graphic artist and master of book and magazine illustration who collaborated with leading Moscow publishers and periodicals. His illustrations can be found in the tales of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.
