About exhibition
The collection of the Far Eastern Art Museum comprises approximately 16,000 unique, authentic works of fine art. It includes works from the Old Russian, pre‑revolutionary Russian, Soviet and contemporary periods; Far Eastern and Western European visual art; and the art of the peoples of the Amur region and the North of the Russian Far East. The museum's permanent exhibitions feature works of Russian icon painting from the 15th–20th centuries, notable not only for the high quality of their life‑giving painting but also for the majesty of their spiritual beauty. The Russian art halls house the museum's finest works by S. Shchedrin, V. Tropinin, I. Aivazovsky, V. Vereshchagin, I. Shishkin, I. Repin, V. Surikov, V. Polenov, I. Kramskoi, A. Kuindzhi, I. Levitan and P. Konchalovsky. The Western European art halls are organized by schools of painting: Italian, German, Dutch, Flemish and French.
