Exhibitions of the Amur Regional Museum of Local Lore
About exhibition
The Amur Regional Museum of Local Lore named after G. S. Novikov-Daursky is one of the oldest museums in the Russian Far East. It was founded on 16 (28) August 1891 at the initiative of the Blagoveshchensk City Duma. Its opening was preceded by an exhibition organized by gold miners in honor of the visit to Blagoveshchensk by the Tsarevich Nikolai, the future Emperor Nicholas II. The museum is located in one of Blagoveshchensk’s most beautiful historic buildings (a federal cultural heritage site), where, at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, the shop of the German trading firm Kunst & Albers was housed. The collections hold over 160,000 items related to the nature, history and culture of the Amur region. The largest museum collections are: numismatic (coins) – more than 8,000 items; archaeological – about 9,000; natural science – over 8,000; ethnographic – about 4,000. The photographic collection numbers over 15,000 units, the documentary collection more than 30,000, and the library over 20,000. With an admission ticket you can view the permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions. The admission ticket does not include guided tours.
