Exhibitions of the Aleksin Art and Local History Museum
About exhibition
The museum's exhibition comprises 13 permanent halls and 5 halls for temporary exhibitions. The Natural History Department introduces the paleontological past, geological structure, mineral resources, water resources, and the flora and fauna of the Aleksin district. On the second floor are exhibitions recounting Aleksin in the 18th–early 20th centuries as a merchant town. The section "Aleksin during the Great Patriotic War" tells of the feats of Aleksin residents and the events in the town and district in November–December 1941. In halls that have preserved their architectural decoration, the interiors of formal merchant bedrooms and a drawing room have been recreated, and the life and customs of the wealthy provincial merchant class are described. The core of the museum's art collection consists of works by Aleksin artists.
