Graivoron District is located in the forest-steppe zone, where forest and steppe areas alternate. The current species composition of the animal life still reflects the high biogeocenotic diversity of the territory. More than 1,200 animal species have been recorded in the basins of the Graivoron rivers. Of these, 17 species are listed in the Red Data Book of Russia and 65 species in the Red Data Book of the Belgorod Region. The museum's exhibition is filled with taxidermy specimens of both common and rare species of animals and birds. Visitors can see, for example, the Eurasian wolf, the red fox, the European hare, the polecat, the blind mole-rat, the beaver, the otter, the grey heron, the tawny owl, the long-eared owl, the coot, and the rough-legged buzzard. Colorful illustrations allow anyone interested to study in detail the endangered species that still occur across the expanses of their native region.
