Exhibition "Hall of Valor and Glory"
About exhibition
The exhibition of the Hall of Valor and Glory acquaints visitors with Ryazan natives — Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory. More than 300,000 residents of Ryazan went to the front during the war, abandoning their beloved occupations and peacetime work. They fought, sparing neither life nor health. One of the reasons for our country's victory in the Great Patriotic War was the mass heroism of its participants — soldiers, partisans, underground fighters and home-front workers. The names of Marshal of the Soviet Union and People's Hero of Yugoslavia Sergey Semyonovich Biryuzov, National Hero of Italy Fyodor Andrianovich Poletaev, and Young Guard member Ivan Zemnukhov are familiar to many, and in this museum hall visitors can learn about the lives and deeds of those heroes whose names are known only to specialists. In one of the display cases visitors can see the flight logbook and jacket that belonged to Soviet fighter pilot and Great Patriotic War participant Ilya Filippovich Andrianov. The exhibition also presents the personal effects of Konstantin Nikolaevich Krutov: a captured German Miranda accordion, a commander's map case, and an overcoat dating from the 1930s.
