The exhibition tells the story of the city of Stavropol–Tolyatti in the 20th century. It was the most vivid and eventful period in the city's life — the time when provincial Stavropol transformed into industrial Tolyatti. The Revolution, the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War, the construction of the hydroelectric power station, the relocation of the city to a new site, the construction of VAZ and the new Tolyatti — a model of Soviet urban planning — are all presented in the museum's exhibition halls, which are styled as city cinemas. The main theme uniting all the halls is cinema, and the exhibition itself is organized like a multiplex.
