Exhibition «Time of People»
About exhibition
What the farthest corner of the Russian Empire was like — Primorsky Krai at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries — is told by five themed halls united by a single time in the exhibition: “Roads,” “Homes,” “Cities,” “Business,” and “Violence.” Together with the first townspeople, visitors follow the process of settling the Far Eastern territory, adapting to it, assimilating into its natural and cultural environment, creating and building, and, finally, the terrible rupture of the Civil War. The “Time of Roads” hall is devoted to three routes of movement from West to East: by land, by sea, and by rail. “Time of Home” tells the story of organizing surrounding spaces and arranging everyday life in a new place. The “Time of the City” hall recounts the emergence of Vladivostok through the interaction of civilizations and the mixing of cultures, languages, and traditions. The “Time of Business” hall explores the development and establishment of Primorye’s commercial life. “Time of Violence” covers the period from 1917 to 1922. More details on the website.
