The permanent historical exhibition of the museum-reserve “Verkhoturye. History of the Town and District. 1598–1917” is housed in the Tsar's Barns building on the territory of the Verkhoturye Kremlin. The three halls comprising the exhibition cover the period from the 17th century to the early 20th century and introduce visitors to the main events in Verkhoturye's history. The documents and photographs, narrative compositions and authentic artifacts on display reveal the historical and cultural significance of Verkhoturye as the oldest town in Sverdlovsk Oblast, the first capital of the Urals, and its spiritual center. Visitors can use the QR codes placed on the display cases to learn detailed information about some of the more interesting exhibits.
