Exhibition «In the Fire of the Peasant War»

About exhibition

The exhibition tells the story of the Peasant War of 1773–1775 led by Yemelyan Pugachev on the territory of the Osinskaya volost. On display are reconstructions of Pugachev's decrees and manifestos, a reconstruction of the uniform of a defender of the Osa fortress, weapons of the rebels (maces, spearheads, a cannon), portraits of Yemelyan Pugachev and Salavat Yulaev painted by artist E. N. Shirokov, a model of the Osa fortress, and the staff of a Pugachev scout — an interesting exhibit with an unusual history. The diorama “The Taking of the Osa Fortress by E. Pugachev” (author E. I. Danilevsky, Moscow) helps to vividly depict the events of the Peasant War in Osa, and the actions of the rebels and the fortress defenders. The exhibition is complemented by historical and local-history literature: studies by historians and writers on the topic of the Peasant War of 1773–1775, including A. S. Pushkin’s historical work “The History of the Pugachev Rebellion” (1871). The sensory kiosk presents maps, diagrams, documents, and works of art.
