Exhibition at the A. S. Pushkin Museum-Cottage
About exhibition
The memorial museum-cottage was opened in 1958 in the town of Pushkin (the former Tsarskoye Selo) in a one-story wooden building that has largely preserved its original architectural appearance. The poet rented eight rooms in the house, which belonged to A. K. Kitaeva, and lived here with his young wife from May to October. Interiors reconstructed from contemporaries' recollections, as well as materials presented in the museum's exhibition, tell about A. S. Pushkin's life and work during this period. On the house's mezzanine is the poet's study, where "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", "Onegin's Letter to Tatyana" and other works were written. A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to the stays in Tsarskoye Selo of N. M. Karamzin and V. A. Zhukovsky, elder contemporaries and literary mentors of A. S. Pushkin.
