Exhibition 'Ural Pavilion'
About exhibition
The exhibition will introduce you to the finest examples of decorative and applied arts from the Southern Urals in the museum's collection. One hall is devoted to artistic cast-iron works, in which pieces by the Kasli foundry masters unquestionably take center stage. However, the collection also includes items from other Ural factories, such as Kusinsky and Verkh-Isetsky. The second hall is dedicated to a collection of Zlatoust steel engravings and the Ural's lapidary (stone-cutting) art. The museum owns several examples of decorated presentation weapons; the best of these are showcased in the exhibition and astonish with the finesse and fancifulness of their ornamentation, as well as with an inventive approach to decorative details. 'Ural Pavilion' is an intimate yet richly beautiful space filled with creativity and labor. It clearly shows how Ural craftsmen transformed materials that at first glance seem coarse—steel, cast iron and stones—into true works of art.
