Exhibition “Temryuk — a Port City”

The exhibition presents museum collections and items from the holdings of the Temryuk Museum: navigational instruments, a diving suit, models, a helm, and an anchor. The history of navigation is “told” by a steering wheel used to control a boat, an anchor, a ship’s wheel and models of a frigate and a half-galley. Of particular interest is a mid-20th-century diving suit. Such suits were used for deep dives. It is especially notable that it is exhibited complete: consisting of the helmet, the suit itself, and the boots. Navigational instruments will interest both people involved in shipping and other museum visitors. On display are a protractor-ruler, a binnacle for a ship’s compass, a Morse key, binoculars, a sextant, a clinometer (inclinometer), and an anemometer. The collection of maritime knots is especially interesting. The exhibition is 85% formed from items of the museum’s scientific and auxiliary collection. The exhibits are of historical and cultural value; many are unique and have no equivalents in other museums in the district.
