Exhibition "Suzdal Kremlin"
About exhibition
Visitors can walk around a site that has existed archaeologically since the 10th century, with preserved earthen ramparts and moats of the ancient fortress. In the Nativity of the Theotokos (Bogoroditse‑Rozhdestvensky) Cathedral attention is drawn to the pre‑Mongol gilded doors made using the fire‑gilding technique. The exhibitions include the only surviving 17th‑century Jordan canopy in Russia. Of interest are tablet icons that served as a kind of church calendar, and several icons of the Mother of God "Vladimirskaya", including works by the famous royal icon painter Simon Ushakov.
