Stroganov Palace Exhibition
About exhibition
Stroganov Palace in Saint Petersburg was erected in 1753–1754 by architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli at the junction of the Moika River and Nevsky Prospect. The houses that previously stood on the site, owned by the Stroganovs, were unified by the architect into a single complex with a common façade in the Baroque style. Over nearly two centuries of the palace's history, its interiors were repeatedly remodeled to reflect changing fashions and the owners' needs. More than a dozen architects took part in their design, among them, in addition to Rastrelli, Voronikhin and Sadovnikov, were Ivan Kolodin, Carlo Rossi and other St. Petersburg masters.
