Exhibition of the Stroganov Palace
About exhibition
The Stroganov Palace in Saint Petersburg was built in 1753–1754 by architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli at the junction of the Moika River and Nevsky Prospekt. The houses that previously stood on the site, belonging to the Stroganov family, were unified by the architect into a single composition with a common façade in the Baroque style. Over the palace’s nearly two-century history, its interiors were repeatedly altered to suit changing fashions and the needs of its owners. More than a dozen architects took part in their creation; among them, in addition to Rastrelli, were Voronikhin and Sadovnikov, Ivan Kolodin, Karl Rossi, and other St. Petersburg masters.
