Exhibition 'The Battle of Stalingrad'
About exhibition
You can explore the exhibition independently; visits are self-guided without a tour guide. The panorama museum complex is one of the largest military-historical museums in the country. It includes the exhibition 'The Defeat of the German-Fascist Forces at Stalingrad' (opened July 8, 1982) and the 'Battle of Stalingrad' museum (opened May 6, 1985). Visit eight halls displaying more than 4,000 items, four dioramas, and the triumphal and pre-panorama halls — venues for exhibitions. The exhibition is devoted to the Battle of Stalingrad, its military and political outcomes, and its global historical significance. On display are photographs, personal belongings, awards, battle standards and artillery pieces that traveled the roads of war to Berlin, weapons, and gifts to the city and the museum presented by domestic and foreign delegations and private individuals. For example, there is an honorific sword — a gift from King George V of the United Kingdom — and the bell of peace from Hiroshima, Volgograd's sister city. In 2015, as part of preparations for the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Battle of Stalingrad, a unique project was carried out to upgrade the panorama museum's technical equipment using the latest multimedia technologies.
