Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery Exhibition
About exhibition
Visitors will learn about the monastery's role in the formation of the Russian state and about prominent state and political figures whose lives and activities are connected with the monastery. In the Spaso-Preobrazhensky (Transfiguration) Cathedral visitors will see frescoes by Gury Nikitin — the last work of the renowned 17th-century master. The architectural ensemble of the monastery monuments, formed in the 16th–17th centuries, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the monastery's apothecary garden one can learn about one of the monks' obediences — the cultivation of herbs for preparing medicines, kvass and healing aromatic teas. A short bell-ringing concert is a pleasant addition. The museum exhibitions present icons and items of decorative and applied art made by craftsmen of the Vladimir–Suzdal region. Detailed opening hours for the museum and exhibitions are available on the website.
