The museum is located in the oldest building in the town — the former Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, built in 1785 and rebuilt in the 1930s. The natural history department's exhibits display mineral resources and two unique natural-territorial complexes: Zyuratkul and the Aysky (Ai) Valley. Visitors can take a journey into the geological past of the region and imagine ancient inhabitants such as mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses, and cave bears. The history hall immerses visitors in the atmosphere of Satka's past: visitors will learn who owned the Satka plant, where the first settlers came from, and which period is known as the "Great Confusion." Unique photographs and documents tell the story of the first and only facilities in Russia: the "Magnesite" refractory plant and the "Porogi" ferroalloy plant. The display cases present the events of the 1917 revolution, the repressions, the Stakhanovite movement, factory life, the history of participants in the Great Patriotic War, and Heroes of the Soviet Union. Interiors such as a craftsman's log hut, the room of a well-to-do townsman, and a 1960s room help convey a family atmosphere.
