Exhibition "Nature of the Osinsky Prikamye"

About exhibition

The exhibition tells about the region's natural wealth, its animal and plant life, ancient geological past, mineral resources and the notable features of Osinsky nature. It presents more than 670 museum items. Fossils of the ancient Permian sea, rocks, minerals, ore deposits, mollusc shells, insects, fish, birds and mammals, gymnosperms and flowering plants characterize the rich and diverse nature of the Osinsky region, its attractions and peculiarities. The display uses illustrations from the book "Art Forms in Nature" by the German scientist Ernst Haeckel, who first introduced the term "ecology." The most spectacular part of the exhibition is the diorama "Nature of the Osinsky Prikamye." It presents the diversity of the region’s fauna and flora. The picturesque canvas smoothly connects local landscapes — the valley of the Tulva River, Orekhovaya Hill, the Votkinsk Reservoir, and the Subbotinskaya forest dacha. Life-size natural groups allow visitors to see many species of mammals, birds and plants in a natural setting. The life of nature is shown for all seasons of the year and times of day. A small diorama, "Animal World of the Votkinsk Reservoir," located on the lower level of the large diorama hall, shows the local ichthyofauna — roach, chub, ide, bream, zander (pike-perch), perch, stone goby, pike and burbot.
