Exhibition "Nature of the Lower Don"
About exhibition
The two halls of the ecological exhibition display more than 600 items from entomological, ichthyological, ornithological, zoological and botanical collections. The first hall is dedicated to the biocenoses of the Ataman Forestry — the first monument to artificial steppe afforestation on the Don from the 19th century. Visitors will see a red deer, roe deer, wild boar, badger, fox, diurnal aristocrats of the sky (a falcon, an eagle and a hawk), and nocturnal predators: an owl, the Eurasian eagle-owl, the tawny owl and the long-eared owl. The second hall presents the species diversity of semi-aquatic and aquatic inhabitants of the delta, reedbeds and the coast of the Sea of Azov: ducks, sandpipers, terns, gulls, cormorants, herons and swans. A separate section showcases the ichthyofauna. The exhibition is equipped with audio installations and tactile zones. Additional service — themed guided tours (price from 200 to 300 rubles for a group of 1 to 25 people).
