Exhibition «Preparation and Conduct of the First Space Flight»

The exhibition is dedicated to the first human flight into outer space. It presents documents and photographs, as well as unique items: S. P. Korolev's desk, geodetic instruments used during the construction of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the simulators on which members of the first detachment of Soviet cosmonauts trained, and the spacesuit for the Vostok series spacecraft. Visitors will see the control panels of the Vostok carrier rocket that were part of the ground test-and-launch complex, a time display, the SBK-48 sealed isolation chamber in which cosmonaut candidates, including Yuri A. Gagarin, underwent a ten-day isolation. The museum display is equipped with models of the first domestic liquid-fuel rockets, the Vostok spacecraft, the first artificial Earth satellite, the ejection seat of the Vostok spacecraft, as well as a technological sample of the RD-108 liquid rocket engine. The unifying center of the museum space is the interactive system «Gagarin's Orbit», which allows visitors to trace the geographic locations and oceanic areas over which the actual flight path of the first cosmonaut passed.
