Open-air exhibition "Ramparts of the Azov Fortress"
About exhibition
The site is a system of man-made defensive earthworks built by the Russian army in the 18th century. It presents the history of the Russo-Turkish wars of the 17th–18th centuries. It is a federal-level cultural heritage monument. Access to the panoramic viewing platform is via the "Alekseevsky hornwork" location. From the ramparts of the Azov Fortress there is a picturesque view of the Don River; the configuration of the chain of bastion structures, the ditch, the parapet, the glacis and the curtain is visible. Informational texts explain fortification terminology, and an orientation sign describes the fortresses that were part of the Azov–Mozdok line of fortifications in the 18th century, whose construction was overseen by Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov. The viewing platform is equipped with free binoculars. An additional service is guided tours (price from 300 to 800 rubles for a group of 1 to 25 people). Tickets can be purchased at the museum and site ticket offices, as well as on the "VMuseum" portal.
