Pavlovsk Park Exhibition
About exhibition
The Pavlovsk palace-and-park ensemble was created in the heyday of Russian Classicism at the turn of the 18th–19th centuries by a whole galaxy of well-known architects and decorators of the time: Cameron, Brenna, Quarenghi, Gonzaga. The tastes of Pavel Petrovich and his wife Maria Feodorovna are reflected in the layout of the landscape park: picturesque scenes of nature along the banks of the Slavyanka River, pastoral and classical pavilions give Pavlovsk its reputation as a romantic park. Poets, painters and composers sought inspiration here. Strauss gave concerts here. The park, covering an area of about 600 hectares, is divided into seven districts — White Birch, Great Star, Parade Field, the Valley of the Slavyanka River, Old and New Silvia, and the Palace precinct — each differing in size, landscape, artistic design and atmosphere. For more than two centuries Pavlovsk, a great joint creation of human genius and nature, has offered visitors an enchanting sense of harmony and inner balance. This masterpiece of world heritage is protected by UNESCO. Attention! Children under 16 receive a free admission ticket at the box office upon presentation of an identity document.
