Exhibition "From a Little Fish to Rybinka"

Unique exhibition featuring a 14-meter aquarium inhabited by more than 50 residents — fish of northern species. Visitors can observe pike, salmon, burbot, perch, ruffe, carp and the rare sterlet, which the Cherepovets region once took pride in. The aquarium's inhabitants were raised at fish farms in Vologda Oblast or caught in the Rybinsk Reservoir and the rivers Suda and Sheksna. The exhibition explains which fish species are found in local rivers and lakes, their sizes, distinctive appearance, feeding habits and reproduction. A separate information section is devoted to the Sheksna sterlet, celebrated by the poet Derzhavin, as well as to the fishing industry on the Sheksna River.
