Exhibition "From Rus' to Russia"
About exhibition
Using the history of the Ryazan region as an example, the exhibition tells about the formation and development of the Russian state. The first part of the exhibition (opened in 2006) is devoted to the period from the 11th to the 16th centuries. Archaeological finds (including the famous hoards) recount the life of the Old Russian towns – Old Ryazan and Pereyaslavl of Ryazan. The history of the Tatar-Mongol invasion of Rus' is covered; a vivid narrated diorama tells of the heroic defense of Old Ryazan in 1237. The second part of the exhibition, opened in 2009, presents the history of Pereyaslavl of Ryazan (from 1778 – Ryazan) from the fortress-town of the Great Abatis Line in the 17th century to a provincial city in the 19th century.
