Exhibition 'Weapons of Victory'

The exhibition presents the history of the creation of truly revolutionary examples of small arms in the pre-war period and during the war, and it tells about the contribution of Kirov Oblast to the development and production of weapons for the Soviet Army. Visitors learn about the lives and work of famous firearms designers such as V. A. Degtyaryov, G. S. Shpagin, A. I. Sudaev, F. V. Tokarev, S. I. Mosin and M. T. Kalashnikov. From the collection of the Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore, legendary weapons are on display: the Mosin rifle (Mosin–Nagant), the Degtyaryov light machine gun, the Tokarev self-loading rifle, the Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh), the Tula Tokarev pistol (TT) and others. The exhibition also features weapons used by soldiers of Nazi Germany. The display reflects the wartime valor of people from Kirov: Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory, Marshals of the Soviet Union, and ordinary soldiers and officers. The atmosphere of the war years is recreated with photographs by front-line photo chronicler Daniil Fedorovich Onokhin. Thanks to the museum's cooperation with members of the battlefield search movement, history enthusiasts will see items found on battlefields: fragments of tanks and aircraft and soldiers' personal belongings. The exhibition is also complemented by several dozen scale models of combat equipment from the Great Patriotic War.
