Exhibition 'He Walked the Protected Trail...'
About exhibition
In the hall of the permanent exhibition a working corner has been created dedicated to the memory of Leonid Stashkevich. He was a Master of Sport of the USSR, an honored polar explorer, Honored Ecologist of the Russian Federation, an honorary citizen of the Sovetsky District, a member of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia, and a participant in district, regional and international photo exhibitions. The exhibition of Leonid Stashkevich's photographs "My Land" first opened the museum's exhibition hall on February 15, 1997. The display is arranged as the author's study, featuring a writing desk, chair, telephone, notebook, pen, briefcase and other items needed in the working process. Personal belongings, documents, awards, photographs and Leonid Stashkevich's work clothing are on display here. During his work in environmental protection organizations, Stashkevich's interest in photography grew from an amateur hobby to a professional pursuit: his photographs have been published at home and abroad; he published more than 50 popular-science and scientific articles and four books. In 1987 he became a member of the Union of Photo Artists of Russia. Thanks to his personal collection of cameras, one can trace the development of photographic equipment. In 1995 Leonid Stashkevich became head of one of the first nature parks established in Russia — the "Kondinskie Lakes" — which today bears his name.
