Exhibition of the Nytva Local History Museum
About exhibition
The Nytva Local History Museum was founded in 1958 by an MSU graduate, teacher-historian and honorary citizen of the town of Nytva, Pavel Semyonovich Sonin. Since 1967 the museum has been located in the historic center of the town, in the building of the former zemstvo school, which is a regional architectural and urban planning monument dating from the late 19th century. The museum's collection comprises about 30,000 items. These include documents and photographs from the late 19th–early 20th centuries, antique books, numismatics, household and ethnographic objects, paintings and decorative-applied arts. The collection of tableware from the 1970s–1980s produced by the Nytva Metallurgical Plant became the basis for a separate exhibition, the "Spoon Museum", which has been housed in a separate building since 2013. The local history museum's displays cover Nytva's past from the founding of the Stroganovs' copper-smelting plant in 1756 up to the end of the 20th century. Permanent exhibitions are complemented by temporary thematic shows. A highlight of the museum is the event diorama "Fair in Nytva" (authors – A. A. Murgin and A. N. Fomichev), one of three event dioramas in Perm Krai. As a memento of their visit, visitors can have their photograph taken wearing early 20th-century costumes.
