Exhibition «A New Haven on Don Soil»
About exhibition
Visitors will see a collection in the mansion of Mark Iskidarov (19th century), located in the historic center of Nakhichevan-on-Don (now the Proletarsky district of Rostov-on-Don), which reveals the history of the settlement founded by Armenian settlers from the Crimean Peninsula (1779) on the site of the former Poludennaya sloboda (a suburb of the fortress of Saint Dimitry of Rostov) and later developed into the southern provincial town of Nakhichevan-on-Don. The exhibition presents the full cultural diversity of the colorful city of Nakhichevan: objects of traditional Armenian daily life and religious practices, musical culture; photographs capturing the architectural appearance of the old town and the faces of ordinary and notable Nakhichevan residents, the townspeople's memorial belongings, and much more.
