Exhibition of the museum club 'House of the Agafurovs'
About exhibition
The exhibition is located in the house where, at the end of the 19th–beginning of the 20th century, lived the family of the wealthy Yekaterinburg merchant Kamaletdin Agafurov. The carved wooden mansion, richly decorated both outside and inside, recalls various periods of its 125-year history. Above all, it tells the story of Tatar merchants and the grand success of their trading empire. Few authentic belongings of the family have been preserved. However, the interior of the house itself, maintained from the time of the first owners, is impressive: stained-glass windows, stucco ceilings, and samples of linoleum and glazed tiles. The Soviet period of the house’s history is represented by the 'Communal Apartment' — a room recreating the atmosphere of a 1960s communal flat. The large, beautiful rooms were divided by numerous partitions, and 30–40 families lived in the house. This is an exhibition where you can quite literally touch history. In several rooms of the mansion, exhibitions of decorative and applied arts, painting, and photography rotate monthly.
